Puzzle 1 (2012)Laser Wood Etching 8 pieces of 30x30cm MDF (122x61cm)by Farhana Hussain
It’s an INTERACTIVE piece. Viewer takes on the role of a participant and tries to solve this puzzle. My idea is to recreate the experience of playing with the jigsaw puzzle from ones childhood while the participants pieces together a moment from my own childhood: a photo from my 12th birthday…

Journey 1  (2012)
Length: 1 min 11 sec

This film is meant to be played in a loop.

She is waiting patiently on the platform for the train to arrive. Listening to a soft music playing at the background with her headphones on.
Waking up so early was not doing any good to her. She couldn’t sleep all night long, kept tossing and turning like she was drowning but was fighting to resurface. She might have been lying down but yet her mind was wide awake the whole night long.
     She sighed audibly.
At this rate, she’ll soon be blessed with the dark circles and the saggy bags underneath her eyes, which never makes one look healthy but rather tired and ill.
She noticed for the first time that the platform is starting to fill up. Three more minutes then the train should be here.
She is praying feverishly that she wouldn’t be late.
     At least, not today!
I can’t miss this seminar for the world or any for that matter! I promised Professor Stewart Martin that I won’t be late and I intend to keep my words. What can I say? I’m a man of my words! Sorry, I meant woman!
     There! It’s here.
She tentatively stepped into the train.
Gosh, people! Stop pushing! I’m in a rush too but you don’t see me sending an innocent person sprawling down to the bottom of the Hell-pit!
     MOORGATE STATION!
God! Finally, some space to breathe in.
She nudged her way to an empty seat since no one was making even a single move to sit down.
Fine! I’ll be the bigger person here then!
She sighed and turned up the music, while staring out the window through a gap in front of her…lost in her own thoughts…mesmerized by her vision…
     HENDON CENTRAL STATION!

This film represents continuation of journey…endless in some ways…
